                                                  PRESS RELEASE

2011: POSTPONED NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTION – PRINCEWILL CALLS FOR INDULGENT AS HE PLEADS THAT PROF JEGA SHOULD NOT BE SACRIFICED FOR THIS BLUNDER

The news of the postponed election of the National Assembly election scheduled for 2nd April, 2011 though very sad and unfortunate did not come to us as a shock based on d frustrations ad loopholes put on the paths of INEC prior to this election by the National Assembly and the Presidency in the release of funds and enactment of the enabling laws to enable the INEC perform its tasks creditably but we wish to ask for patience and understanding among Nigerians over this unfortunate situation! Having gotten to this embarrassing stage which we currently found ourselves where resources and man power have been deployed only for the election not to hold due to logistical problems occasioned by the usual Nigerian lack of vision and proper planning and last minute rushing. Though we are sad and bitter about this unexpected embarrassing situation after the much that Prof Jega the INEC Chairman and his Team have put in, in ensuring that we have a creditable election but let us counsel that this blunder should not deter INEC from planning and soldiering on to win back the confidence and hearts of Nigerians and the International Community that are shocked by this blunder.

This notwithstanding, we must commend Prof Jega for taking a decisive step in avoiding electoral crisis in the country knowing the consequences of such a failure by postponing the election instead of conducting a shabby election without the necessary documents like the final result sheet that would have being annulled by the court. We are aware of the monumental loss both by the politicians and Nigerians as a whole because of this postponement but let us be guided by the principle that it is better to do a creditable election that will be the proud of all than doing a shabby election that will take us to our disgraceful years of the past. We therefore plead that the advocates that Prof Jega should be sacrificed or sacked demonstrates maturity and constraint as sacking Prof should not be case at the moment but instead we should appreciate the pains and efforts he has put in to give us a credible election that has been elusive in Nigeria all these years. Let us allow him correct himself on the job for the benefit of all Nigerians.

Prince Tonye Princewill the Princewill Political Associates (PPA) Leader who was at Buguma in Asari Toru Local Government of Rivers State his home town to participate in the election was so devastated about the failure of INEC living up to expectation of Nigerians and the International Community but he took solace on the fact that it is better that the election be postponed for a better organised and credible election that will stand the test of time. "I will advise that to avoid this type of embarrassing situation, INEC should ensure that all the required electoral materials are not only intact but deployed to the States 24 hours before any future elections. The fact remains that never in the history of Nigeria that Nigerians have so desired and prepared to make a statement through their votes like this election and any group or clique that will constitute itself or themselves in the wheel of progress of granting Nigerians a credible election will be resisted and uprooted. As much as I sincerely sympathise with most of the contestants who must have spent a lot in mobilising their supporters and agents towards this election but let this be part of their contributions towards the growth and political future of our country. Members of Princewill Political Associates have being directed to stay behind at their various political wards and ensure that all PDP candidates are delivered and elected accordingly come 4th April and the subsequent elections ".

Finally we must commend Nigerians for turning out enmass to vote but let them not be disheartened or deluded as this is the best opportunity to ensure that credible Nigerians take over the reins of leadership in Nigeria in the next Republic to ensure that instead of facing the current state of our country but instead other countries will be emulating us in their drive to better the lots of their countries. The Security agencies truly conducted themselves wonderfully well in 2nd April futile exercise and need our support and encouragement in ensuring the we have a peaceful and well organised election void of violence and ballot snatching.
